Hollydale

The complexities of this project began with a challenging site located on a curve with tapering gardens, a feature that presented numerous spatial issues. To make matters more difficult, the initial design and survey undertaken by another architectural practice were inadequate and did not address the unique needs of the site. Upon the client’s dissatisfaction with the progress, we took over the project and embarked on a complete reconfiguration. We addressed issues with boundary lines, resolved spatial constraints, and fixed the structural flaws in the original design.

Building on our expertise in permitted development and planning, we upgraded every aspect of the project, from material selection to the introduction of large glazing features. We skillfully “stole” views towards London by removing restrictive corners and opening up the floorplan. Skylights were inserted at different levels, creating dynamic lighting and a sense of verticality. We redefined the flow of the space, seamlessly connecting private areas like bedrooms with more communal social spaces, resulting in an open and fluid layout.

Our redesign transformed the project, adding a unique atmosphere that perfectly suited the client’s needs. The interior was chosen by the client with our consultation, allowing us to curate the architecture in a way that complemented their personality and lifestyle. Each space was designed to align with specific briefs, making the house feel like a perfect reflection of the client’s vision - functional, aesthetically unique, and full of character.
